  • Use original Christmas colors throughout the venue. Think deep red sand startling greens. Either chose all red or green tablecloths and then usethe other color for the centerpiece. PLANNING Christmas dinner

Christmas brings families together and the highlight of the evening is Christmas dinner. Give your guests the traditional dinner of turkey, stuffing and cranberries. Here is a few suggestions for your Christmas feast:

Traditional Sit-Down Christmas Dinner:

HOLLY JOLLY tips & traditions

Add Ribbons

  • Add ribbons and streamers to you and your bridesmaid bouquets. Even better, tie miniature silver or gold bells to the end of each ribbon to create a jingling effect like Santa Claus. You will ring down the aisle! Another bouquet idea would be to go with an all white bouquet or a single red rose with gold and silver ribbon tied around it.

Winter Style

  • Have the bridal party decked out in winter style. Have the brides andbridesmaids carry a muff decorated with poinsettias. Another idea would be to have cloaks in rich, red velvet or a faux pas fur wrapped around the shoulders.

Santa Claus

  • Are children attending the wedding? If so, give them a special treat with Santa Claus appearing. You might even consider doing this for big kids also.

Enter in Style!

  • Have your father and yourself approach the venue in a sleigh. Afterward, let your guests go on sleigh rides with hot chocolate.

  • Do you live in an area that you don’t get snow? Surprise your guests by renting a snow blower and have snow blowing and surrounding the venue. Your wedding venue will get more looks than just from your guests.

Let It Snow

52 Reasons

Hot Toddies

  • Instead of wine serve Egg Nog or Port. Hot Toddies are also a must. Itis a cocktail consisting of water, sugar and lemon with rum, whiskey or brandy.

  • According to Margaret Atwood - “Eskimos have 52 words for snow because it is so special to them; there ought to be as many for love” Make it into a game and see how many words your guests can come up with for snow!

DRUMMING up thanks

Your guests are sure to be showered with gifts during Christmas but it’s always nice to give them a special little thanks for coming to your affair. Here are a few Winter White gift suggestions:

  • Make a snowman kit to give to your guests! Buy a bunch of carrots, buttons or fake eyes and scarfs and place in a bag for a unique gift foryour guests.

  • See if you can get a deal on small snow globes to give to your guests.

  • Fill up stockings with chocolates.

ROCKING around the tree

Music is just a part of Christmas like the tree! See if you can hire some Christmascarolers to sing during the cocktail hour or during dinner. Of course, you will want to play some classic Christmas songs throughout the evening also.

Songs to consider throughout the evening could include:

  • White Wedding - Billy Idol

  • You Are My Special Angel - Bobby Helms

  • You Light Up My Life - Debbie Boone

WINTER WONDERLAND for two

Is it time for the two of you to get away from it all and reflect on some love andfun! Plan a weekend get-away to a ski resort. If you don’t ski, make it time to learn something new together.

The two of you can sink your sore bodies into a nice cavernous tub after and rub each others sores. Warm up by the fireplace and talk about everything except the wedding! Leave that conversation for Monday.

NUTTIN' in your mind

You are sure to have your own Winter White ideas but just in case youcan’t think of nuttin’, here are a few suggestions to spark your fire:

  • Rent the classic movie “It’s A Wonderful Life”.

  • Go to your local library and look through Christmas Craft books. There’s a multitude of them available which will inspire some original ideas foryour wedding.

  • Go for a long walk while it snows! Watch the snowflakes cover the ground and just focus on the snowflakes. Even better, be like a kid and jump into the snow and make snow angels just for the fun of it!
